I’ve tried yoga, meditation, journaling and a whole host of other mindfulness techniques that I loved for a time, but for some reason, they just didn’t stick. I’m a driven person and I love a hobby that keeps my mind happy and connected, but I just hadn’t found my thing. Lately however, I’ve found myself nature writing and I cannot recommend it enough. It all started after I was gifted a book by J Krishnamurti called All The Marvellous Earth which I absolutely loved. It’s packed full of Mark Edwards’ beautiful and striking photographs alongside Krishnamurti’s beautiful and striking writing. I read every page over and over and then I thought, I might give this a go!

I really enjoy going on walks in my spare time, disconnecting from life and technology apart from when I’m taking photographs of the nature I’m walking in. So on one of my walks, I decided to sit down and write about what I was seeing and experiencing around me. If you don’t have time to sit and write then don’t fear, I have also written from memory or photographs and videos that I took during my walk and that works well too. It’s not something I do every day, I don’t think this would be realistic alongside my schedule sadly, but I want to try and finish one piece a week and at that rate, I can guarantee you that this a habit that will stick.

So I challenge you to give nature writing a go if you’re looking to squeeze a bit of mindfulness into your life, you wont regret it!
